Enjoy watching your own DVD about Victoria's Castle while sipping on Murchies' blend of "Castle" tea. Or snuggle up with this coffee table picture book about the castle then head out with three friends and take a walk through time with your own self guided tour of this beautiful piece of local history. With 39 rooms and over 20,000 square feet of interior space, Craigdarroch Castle is the perfect vacation (or staycation!) experience for everyone. What better way to spend a cold winter day!
Beginning in mid-October Curator Bruce Davies and the museum’s staff assist longtime decorator Sherry Kerr to meticulously evoke Christmases past in the castle’s period rooms. On your tour you will see many vintage toys including antique games, wooden blocks and a small cast-iron wood stove under the tree in the drawing room. Mantles are decorated in the bedrooms, there are several Christmas trees throughout the home and the dining table is set for a formal dinner complete with turkey, ham and a boar’s head on a platter.
As an added bonus and at no additional cost to regular self-guided tour fees, you can enjoy music performed by local musicians at certain times of the day. Families with small children will enjoy music and clowning around at one of three performances by Cam and Daisy.
